Non-Emergency Medical Transport (NEMT) Driver
Part-time, about 20 hours per week. $20.00 per hour. Vertex Mobility Transport drivers move patients and clients to dialysis, treatment, appointments, discharges, and facility transfers. You are the person who gets them there safely, on time, and treated with respect. This is a hands-on role: you will operate a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, assist with safe loading and securement, and be the face of the company at every door.
Schedule and Pay
- Part-time, roughly 20 hours per week
- $20.00 per hour, paid on a regular payroll schedule
- Daytime routes across San Diego County, with schedules set in advance
- Consistent hours with the opportunity for more as our route volume grows
What You Will Do
- Transport ambulatory, wheelchair, and gurney passengers on scheduled and same-day trips
- Safely operate a lift- or ramp-equipped vehicle and secure mobility devices to manufacturer standards
- Provide door-to-door and, where required, door-through-door assistance
- Confirm trip details, verify passenger identity, and communicate delays to dispatch in real time
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report defects immediately
- Keep the vehicle clean, sanitized, fueled, and inspection-ready
- Document trip records accurately and protect passenger information under HIPAA
What You Need
- Valid California driver license and at least 3 years of licensed driving experience
- Clean DMV record — a current H6 printout will be requested
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
- DOT medical examiner certificate, or the ability to obtain one before your start date
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain before your start date
- Able to lift and assist up to 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout a shift
- Professional, patient, and calm with elderly, disabled, and medically fragile passengers
- Smartphone for dispatch and trip communication
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Nice to Have
- Prior NEMT, paratransit, ambulance, EMT, CNA, or senior care experience
- Passenger endorsement or experience with lift-equipped or gurney vehicles
- Bilingual Spanish
